How to give the developer access to specific files only?

Question

Suppose I have multiple users working in a repository and there are multiple files & folders in it. How can I only allow users with access (commit) to a specific file & restrict access to all others? Is it possible to apply this at a repo or branch level? Is there any way to achieve this?

You don't have that level of access control. The minimum access you can grant is read and for that, you have access to the entire repository. See managing teams and people access

Maybe makes sense to evaluate moving files to another repository and rebalance the access again.

I have a project on GitHub, and I really need to allow some individuals to only access certain files, not all files. Also, I prefer to stay in a single repository.
