I created a portfolio website for me. After hosting it using github pages it is just displaying repo name

I am trying to add to my portfolio after I published to git hub last month. and it keep committing and saving it under a new repository name in GitHub under the path name of where the files are saved on my Mac. I just want to work live in VSC and have my edits reflect on the portfolio site as it did before. Not commit every single line I change...
