How to mark an already created repo as a fork of another one?

Let's assume a couple of things for this question:

• The Repo already has a bunch of changes.
• We don't want to fork the repo from scratch.
• We want the new repo to point to the old repo, as if it was a fork.

Is there any way to do this?
I know it's a bit of a weird question.
This account is unrelated to the one at work due to privacy reasons.

Yes you should be able to do this by creating a fork on github using the usual way by clicking the fork button.
Then on the repo that already has a bunch of changes you can change the remote to be the new fork you created
git remote set-url origin ...
