OK, so it looks like this isn't a Whisky issue, it's a TacO issue. Should have probably searched both projects for the error before opening a question here - apologies to all! Details are at: BoyC/GW2TacO#115 Closing this question now. |

I'm playing Guild Wars 2 and it runs absolutely superbly on my M2 mac - Whisky is just awesome, so a big thank you!
Now, I want to install a companion app, TacO, that provides overlays and uses the core game's own APIs for its input. It's 'the' standard overlay app for the game and isn't anything dodgy or niche or unsupported or outdated.
The way you install TacO is to drop the app into a folder somewhere on the C: drive: there is no installer or .msi file. To use it, you start the game and then run the TacO executable from wherever you saved it.
I have downloaded and saved TacO to the C: drive of the bottle that contains the main game, and, with the game running, I have used the "Run..." button in Whisky to attempt to start TacO. TacO appears to start but then throws an error message in a dialog window: "Failed to initialise TacO".
Before I raise this up to the TacO developer, as I am new to Wine, I am not sure I'm even running it in the right environment/way. Should a separate program I start using "Run..." in the same bottle of my game be able to interact with it?
If it helps, the error from the TacO logfile is:
[2024-12-19 12:31:31] (Info) [GW2TacO] build ID: GW2 TacO 067.3705r
[2024-12-19 12:31:31] (Info) [GW2TacO] CommandLine: "C:\Program Files\GW2TacO_067r\GW2TacO.exe"
[2024-12-19 12:31:31] (Info) [core] Creating DirectComposition swap chain
[2024-12-19 12:31:31] (Err) [core] DirectX11 SwapChain creation failed (Not implemented.)
Ideas about where to look next to solve this much appreciated.
