Clarifications needed on Data Privacy and Authorization for Fink Message Editor on private repositories #1786
-
Hello Inlang Community, I'm currently exploring the use of the Fink Message Editor for working with translations in my projects. However, I have a few questions regarding data privacy and repository access, particularly for private repositories, I noticed that the Inlang website uses Google Analytics. Could you please elaborate on how data collected via Google Analytics is used, especially in the context of the Fink Message Editor? Additionally, is there a detailed privacy policy available that covers how Inlang handles user data? When authorizing the Fink Message Editor to access my private GitHub repository, what specific permissions are being granted? I searched for the terms of use or privacy policy for the Inlang project, but I was unable to find specific document. |

Hi @qwadrox, You can find the privacy policy here https://www.iubenda.com/privacy-policy/63446420. In general, inlang does not store user or repository data but does collect telemetry to improve the product. How can inlang not store user or repository data? Inlang works "locally" by cloning a repository from a git server (like github) into your browser or local filesystem. Changes users conduct happen on the filesystem in the browser or locally. A push "pushes" to the remote repository host (github.com), not a server of ours*. *Github does not allow cloning repos from the browser. We therefore run a proxy server that forwards the request from Github. Here are detailed answers:
GitHub should show you what permission you grant. Please let us know if not. Inlang apps require cloning and pushing permissions e.g. you can clone a repo in your browser and push changes.
