Wave machine connected but won't write

I downloaded Plover this evening on my macbook (macOS Monterey) and then installed the Stenograph plug-in, and my machine connected, but now it won't write to any text editors - I tried Word and Notes. Output Enabled box is ticked. I'm obviously super new to Plover. Usually work with CaseCatalyst BCS for work purposes.

Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong here? I haven't found anything else to walk me through the baby steps of getting this part right, haha.

So far there isn't enough in the issue to give any meaningful help. Try

• open the paper tape, see the strokes are registered.
