Nationaal Archief foto's
The Nationaal Archief manages a photo collection of some 14 million copies. Approximately 1.1 million of these are digitized and available online. 250 000 photo's in XML and JPEG 1280 pixels (long side), 72 DPI.
This dataset is already in the master branch and production API. For more information and the implemented Mapping: http://docs.opencultuurdata.nl/user/datasets.html
The material can be accessed via the OpenSearch API from the Nationaal Archief.
The photos that are available as open data come from three photo archives. The scans that are available with an open data license can be requested via an URL of the Open Search API. The description document of the API indicates which fields can be searched.
When you take the photos of Willem van de Poll (archive inventory 2.24.14.02) as an example, the URL looks like this. http://www.gahetna.nl/beeldbank-api/opensearch/?q=2.24.14.02&count=100&startIndex=1
The API gives 100 records at a maximum back per &request count=100 and starts with showing on page 1 &startIndex=1. When there are more than 100 records (<opensearch:totalResults>) more records can be added until the final result is reached. In the case of photos a record is an ingredient number (bestanddeelnummer). A record can in very exceptional cases contain more scans of photos. The metadata in XML offers a detailed description of the photo itself.
But the API can also be requested on other search entries from the metadata of the image description. Photos of Willem van de Poll (2.24.14.02) with the word bevrijding in the description the following information is collected:
Because the material falls mostly under CC-BY-SA valt, it is necessary to attribute to the source and licensing information. The images of the Photo collection World War I belong to the Public Domain. Attribution to the source and licensing information is not necessary but will be very much appreciated.
