This is a thinking-out-loud issue. OLS has a community of about 400 people, from all different areas of science, research, tech, and inside and outside academia.

What sort of tasks or questions might you perform, if you were going to find out possible suggestions for names?

This task can be performed by many people. Please post possible answers in thread, and offer feedback to one-another. One of the essences of open work is that together our work is better.

We could rebrand it as wide pro science (WPS)
If I were to rebrand the OLS name, I would use the wife pro science because firstly I would be considering and make a research about the community is about, I would also be look further into what the specifications are as a contributor in open science, also I’ll look into how the minds in the community operates so as to align with the community goals, I’ll look into the values, the conducts through, a headway is given accurately.

I would begin by asking a few questions and finding out the answers.

  1. What the company does.
  2. How community members would explain what the company does to a five year old, and a fifty year old.
  3. How they'd nickname the company if it was a person.
  4. What the company's work makes them think of
  5. If they have a name that relates to that idea, and why the name??
  6. Find out what the brand means to them.
  7. How they feel about the brand.
  8. Ask them what tone or band voice they perceive from the brand.

What about Open Life Community

@Ososeomo

I would approach questions like:

  1. are there possibilities of merging or creating a Vern between all the various areas listed (science, tech ,etc.).
  2. The vision of the brand in the long run (the name has to reflect that)
  3. it has to be simple and short( it sticks and appeals more)
  4. It should be a name that indicates a community

The only word that stood out and may represent all the areas in the community is The Existence.

@Ososeomo I believe they are referring to how these questions would be posed to the community.

What is the suggested medium of communication? Did I get that right @yochannah?

All of these could work:

Hi, @yochannah I'd first start with what open science is and what OLS is doing in this space. Who is your target audience, and how do they respond to the services you offer?

What trends can we imbibe to foster a more straightforward adaptation to the name and connection with the brand and audience?

These will lead to options we can all brainstorm on and fine-tune before settling on the final decision.

I would first conduct a little bit of keyword research on Twitter because it's a more informal platform, and I am likely to find out real and genuine thoughts on how they feel about the community.

Then from OLS community's tweet responses, likes, and quotes on Twitter select a number of people who are the most active on the platform and DM them to ask if we can schedule a call and begin my user interviews from there.

What questions I would ask and my rationale for asking them?

  1. How long they have been in the community and how they joined? (To know if they are early contributors and have seen the community grow over the years, or just recently joined.)
  2. What area of science are they in? (Academia, tech, etc)
  3. Why are they in the community? (To help me understand their WHY)
  4. How would they describe OLS in their own words and what it means to them? (This is to help me understand what they believe is OLS brand personality)
  5. What impact does being a community member have in their lives?
  6. Do you believe there is a need to rebrand the OLS Community and if yes, what would you suggest?
  7. What kind of community do they see OLS becoming in the future, and what hopes do they have for it?

I would suggest we continue with the OLS initials but with a change of meaning to the letter "S". Instead of the Open Life Science (OLS), I think it will be of great idea if we can work with Open Life Stem (OLS).

STEM which means (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, and MATHEMATICS) It has implications for workforce development, national security concerns and immigration policy. The STEM approach fosters creativity and divergent thinking alongside fundamental disciplines.

However, i love the STEM suggestion because it encompasses everything that OLS is about (science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Getting rid of the "L" will leave us with just "OS - Open Stem".

I wrote an extensive process of how I would approach the renaming and rebranding of OLS.
Solution

This process will begin with the hierarchy to find out what problems they are trying to solve and the idea behind the creation of the organization.

I would begin by first asking the OLS hierarchy these questions:

  1. How did the organization start?
  2. What was and is their idea of the organization
  3. What solution was OLS created to provide?
  4. What is the emotion and philosophy of OLS?
  5. What do they intend to achieve with the community?

After gathering necessary information from the above questions, I would then consult with the OLS community members, share with them the details I have, recount the OLS story and then, get their perspective of things with the questions below.

  1. What the company does.
  2. How community members would explain
  3. what the organization does to a five year old, and a fifty year old.
  4. How they'd nickname the company if it was a person.
  5. What the organization's work makes them think of
  6. If they have a name that relates to that idea, and why the name??
  7. Find out what the brand means to them.
  8. How they feel about the brand.
  9. Ask them what tone or band voice they perceive from the brand.

How will I carry out or deliver these tasks/questions?

All of these could work:

  2. Interviews
  3. Suggestion box
  4. Surveys
  5. Card sorting

It is important to make the group activity fun and less formal.

Possible New Name

As regards renaming Open Life Science (OLS).

With information I must have gathered from both the hierarchy and the community and information available on the YouTube channel and website, I did a whiteboard session to find the best possible name for the organization.

  1. Open -the organization is an open source one and accepts contributions from everyone from anywhere.

So I suggest we keep "Open"

  1. On the other hand, Life and Science seem very repetitive when used here because invariably, science is life.

So I suggest we remove life.

This is in order to completely remove the barrier for non-life scientists ,researchers , contributors and interns from different science fields and stacks as having "Life" in the name suggests that the organization caters to only life science fields.

  1. Science - with OLS (information gathered), the organization seems to encompass more than just one aspect of science. The platform calls for contributions from people in every possible scientific niche and this includes technology, engineering, etc.

In this case, I propose science be changed to STEM (because it encompasses everything that OLS is about (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).

Please note that changing Science to STEM was first suggested by @Olakid645

If we were to go with this, we then have Open STEM.

This new name opens a brand new word and does not necessarily take anything away from the organization like its core values or philosophy, modes of conduct or contribution.

However, it sends the message that the organization is open to every possible scientific niche and technology stack.

I went further to check the availability of the domain name " Openstem.com " and it is available.

This is really good, well done, Lydia. I love how much attention to detail you into your work. Here is my contribution, and I would love to hear from others. When we say open STEM, people can argue that is excludes those people who are designers because it refers to (science, technology, engineering and maths). So, I am of the opinion that we use STEAM so that people who are into art feel included.

Rebranding OLS

OBJECTIVE
To be a more inclusive community of scientists by removing perceived barriers for non-life scientists

PROCEDURE
The first question I will ask is if we want to do a brand identity rebrand or refresh. On the surface, they seem the same. But they are different. Refreshing is about updating what your brand is like to meet its new values, goals, brand voice, etc. Rebranding seeks to tear down the entire brand identity and build from the scratch.

QUESTIONS TO ASK AUDIENCE

  • How they perceive OLS
  • Why they choose to be part of OLS in particular
  • The impact OLS has had on their journey

QUESTIONS TO ASK KEY STAKEHOLDERS

  • OLS' history and philosophy
  • What has changed for OLS over time (audience, reach)
  • OLS' values and goals, mission and vision
  • What exactly is wrong with the current branding
  • What brand voice they want to reflect

TASKS
Some ways to go about getting data that would aid this discovery session include:

  • Competitor Analysis
  • User surveys and interviews
  • Focus groups

We also need to properly define our target audience. This helps us in a very vital part of the strategy; building user personas.

RENAMING OLS
For a community that seeks to promote an inclusive culture that is not restricted to Life Sciences, it is only appropriate that the name reflects such desire.

Open Science represents making scientific research available and accessible to all (like Open Sorce, but for scientific research). This posed a challenge as I felt breaking the words apart might make it lose some of its semantic meaning. However, the existing name (Open Life Science) was a reference point as I came to the conclusion that breaking it apart would not necessarily make it lose its meaning and essence.

My suggestion?

  • Open Community For Science (OCS): this clearly drives a message that it is a community open for everyone ("For Science" emphasizing that it is a community for everyone involved with any form of science or scientific practice). Two domain names (opencommunityforscience.com and opencommunity.science which is easier on the mouth and to type and has a pleasant feel) are available

Naming having OLS, Open Life Science makes great sense, first of all allow me thank those that created the first Name. it said allot. still in suggestions for a new name, mine is

Open Science and Technology Community (OpenSTC)

Science encompasses the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. Concepts, theories, techniques, people, and organizations relating to all areas of science and technology—from astronomy, engineering, physics, computer science, and mathematics, to life and earth sciences, chemistry, environmental science, biology, and psychology. Written by trusted experts for researchers at every level, entries are complemented by illustrative line drawings, equations, and charts wherever useful.

Science can represent Life and innovations that come with it.

Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes.

Community one the other hand is a conceptual domain dedicated to societal development though proper science and technological tools.
so with i suggect:

  • OpenSTC
  • OSTC
  • OST Community
    • Whatever sounds nice.
but t me OpenSTC is my choice the sound is great.

OpenSTC - Open Science and Technology Community.

Generally, the first thing that comes to mind
when a product, organization brand, or company is to be renamed, what pops up in mind is what happened? Why rename or rename such a brand? are Users complaining or what? Or is it to increase its value or create more awareness? I will be so inquisitive to know the reason, this will dare me to begin background check on the product, brand, company, or organization, what do they do? the year of its existence, and how it has impacted lives among other things, these questions will come to mind for example when I am not familiar with the brand. It is important to note that, a tree doesn't make a forest, and information gathering by just one person would not cover all that needs to be uncovered so in order to get more answers or come up with ideas on remaining the brand,

  • user research needs to be carried out, this could be done through user interviews and surveys,

  • Competitive analysis as well as

  • focusing on a particular audience who are familiar with the brand, with open-ended questions like

  • Why they chose to use the OLS?

  • How do they interact with OLS?

  • What was their experience?

  • What do they like about OLS?

  • What do they dislike about OLS?

  • Are they Comfortable with the brand name? If they are, what are their reasons, and if they are not what name would they suggest that would easily be understood by a layman and or Five year Old?
This survey however shouldn't be limited to just users who are familiar with the brand but also to those who are not familiar with the product but are using similar brands, this will help create more awareness to them that such a brand or product exists and also give room for better suggestions to improve on a brand.

Also, If Open Life Science (OLS) should be renamed, I would suggest Life Source Community (LSC) because I see a community as a group of people and Science means life, and everything science/life happens within a community, Secondly, Source can be seen as an open channel where life evolves. And since life and science seem similar one should replace the other. So I would suggest the name be renamed to Life Source Community (LSC)..

Understanding why OLS wants to change the brand name; to have a better grasp of the OLS community and why they need a name change, I read the available information on the OLS website and also watched the videos on the OLS YouTube channel.

OLS has expanded to encompass a community of researchers and scientists from many other domains, including physics, anthropology, law, and archaeology, hence the need for a change of name.

My Analysis of the name OLS (Open Life Science)

Open- Open is essential as it conveys the idea behind the community; inclusivity, accessibility, transparency, and reproducibility. Just like open source, what came to mind when I heard the word open life science is that it is available for everyone to access regardless of individual differences be it differences in race, ethnicity, color, or other identifiers.

Life Science; is a branch of science that deals with the study of living organisms. I believe the word Life Science was the best fit for the brand at the time of inception because it was originally founded by groups of scientists working in biology and bioinformatics. The name Open Life Science conveys perfectly what the community does.

But now that OLS has expanded to encompass researchers from other domains, a change of name is needed so that the OLS community remains Inclusive.

Tasks I would perform to find out possible suggestions for a new name

I will start by asking the stakeholders some questions to gain more insights into what informed their decision to rebrand.

Questions to ask stakeholders

What is OLS's long-term vision of the brand?
What do they want OLS to be known for?
What part of the existing brand would they like to keep?
Why do you think a rebrand is needed?

User research

Objective; to gather insights into what the community thinks about the rebranding and what possible names they would suggest.

Research Participants; The participants will be OLS community members.

Research Methods; Surveys, Interviews.

Research Questions;

How long have you been a member of the OLS community?
What area of academia are you into?
When you hear the name OLS, what does it mean to you?
Do you think the name OLS is inclusive? If not, why?
If you are to choose a new name for OLS, what will it be?
How will you feel if the name OLS is changed?

Presenting research insights

This involves providing insights on how the research findings can be useful in the rebranding process. Insights gathered from the research will help make better and more informed decisions.

My suggestion for a new name

I will suggest Open Research Community (ORC)

Why Open Research Community?

Open- The word “Open” should be retained because it is an essential part of the brand identity. It depicts what the brand is about and does that perfectly.

Research Community- “Research” is not limited to life sciences only. Research is more inclusive. It encompasses every field be it law, anthropology, and even life sciences.

Hey all. I've dedicated an hour to looking through comments on GitHub and it wasn't even nearly enough 😁 so a few general pointers:

(edit: hit enter too soon!)

  1. The questions you're raising are great, ways of thinking through what the adoption might look like, and how people might react, if we ask them about possible names.
  2. Understanding the org's mission and vision - yes, super important!
  3. For this stage, it's better to think about the branding strategy than individual names - although I do love all the ones people have suggested so far. LEs "what do we call it?" and more "how do we plan to find possible new names?"

Hi, @yochannah I Trust you are doing fantastic!!

So there's already been a lot of contribution to how we should rebrand OLS of which I am so happy and excited to be in a community with such talented and incredible designers! 😍

I have been doing a lot of observation concerning OLS and the Open Source community as well. Which has enabled me to realize that if we want to re-brand OLS in a way that will portray exactly what it is about and attract more students, mentors, and experts that are passionate about this cause then we will have to focus on the history of Open Source to better define Open Science.

What is Open Source?

The word open source is an excerpt of the term Open Source Software (OOS).
Which is essentially a code/repository that can be seen, modified, and distributed by anyone.

But the word Open Source also means creating a project or software that people who love the project can contribute to making that project better and free i.e accessible to everyone.

Now, what about Open Science?

Open Science is the movement to make scientific research and its dissemination accessible to all levels of society, amateur or professional.

This means that Open Science was birthed out of that desire to make scientific research accessible to everyone.

Therefore, I suggest that when we are deliberating on the name, logo, colors, brand voice and even typography we must take into account the mission, vision, and originality of open science.

The Name😍

Earlier on our slack channel, I stated that just like our incredible mentor Yo and other of my awesome community members, we all love emojis😂🤣... So do pardon me!

FROM OPEN LIFE SCIENCES TO OCHLY (pronounced Oak-ly)

WHY YOU MAY ASK?
The name Ochly is a combination of all the main elements that make OLS, OLS/the main values that the OLS community wishes to give to their target audience and the world.

o= Open source
ch= CoHort programmes
L = Life Sciences
y= yearLY (twice a year)

Benefits of the name Ochly

  • Upholds a unique, exciting, and purposeful brand name that people would love to identify with. E.g Best Ochlies (OLS scientists) of 2023.
  • Ochly is pronounced Oak-ly- and the Oak tree has been known to be a symbol of long life for centuries. The fact that Ochly sounds like Oak- which is a sort of “tree of life” further iterates OLS core messages of which one of which is Life and Life science.
  • Ochly is fun and easy to pronounce.

The Logo🔥

Noooowwww, for my favorite part! I did a ton of research on this one because of its background with Open Source.

And I found something interesting... Look below at the logo of Open Source! 😮

osi_standard_logo_0

When I saw that, I knew we had to work around something that will showcase Open Source and at the same time showcase Science or Life Science.

But I also found out that Life Science is really vast, but one symbol that represents them all is that of life which could be a leaf or a heart.
And since we are not using a heart because we want it to be more professional and a little corporate, I decided to use the leaf symbol.

But also, Science itself can also have a symbol of a scientific bottle (as I like to call it🤣) or a Conical Flask.

Personally, I think the leaf logo would be a perfect fit because it goes so well with Ochly (Yes, This is a biased opinion🌚🤣🤣)

View below how both suggestions turned out👇🏾:

Snapchat-1654936152

So if we are to use any of these, they both will turn out fine.

How??

Because our main focus here is being able to give mentorship and training in all fields of science, technology, engineering, etc which the Circle Of The Logo ALREADY SYMBOLIZES.

It's Open, not just to Science but to other areas or academic fields in which OLS is willing to mentor others in.

Ok, Enough talking... Let's go ahead to Colors.

Of course, we're using green. But, in different shades.

I also took extra time to focus on the Typography that will best fit OLS when rebranded.

Now take a look below😍👇🏾:

Hi @yochannah , I hope it's okay if i ask for more clarification on this?

I like to think of this as a fun approach to finding the future of OLS by looking into its present. This involves rethinking strategy for a possible new name, new logo, and general outlook with the intention of developing a fresh differentiated identity in the minds of the community and investors.

What is OLS? It is a mentoring and training program for open science ambassadors.
Who are the Users: People interested in applying open principles in their open science and research works.
Core values: It emphasizes Education, Transparency, Open Science, Modesty, Community, Respect, and Responsibility

Now that we have established the past/present of OLS, we can ask these key questions;

Has OLS maintained its true meaning and core values since its inception?
Does OLS intend on expanding on its meaning, users, and values?

By successfully answering these questions, we have determined the current identity of OLS and can go ahead and develop its future by either carrying out A Brand Refresh, A Partial Rebrand, or A Total Rebrand.

A Brand Refresh is making changes to minor details like modernizing individual aspects of the logo or expanding the color palette of a brand, A Partial Rebrand is adding something new to the current brand elements without totally changing it, while A Full Rebrand is changing everything as though it were a different company.

Strategies we could use:

  • Analyzing other open science communities to determine the trends in open science,
  • Setting a clear goal that the rebranding should achieve,
  • Analyzing OLS and defining what makes it unique,
  • Deciding a new identity,
  • Creating a new direction for branding elements (logo, color palette, icons, website, social media)
  • Communicating new identity (Launch).

Hi all! Thanks for thinking about the rebranding and the cool names you came up with! As a community member I'd like to caution against two things:

  1. focusing on science/STEM, several community members do not have this background and would be excluded by this
  2. That said, rebranding makes more sense if moving away from the life sciences and keeping it more general, like an 'open community'.

Our data repository rebranded recently. As community members we we're able to first propose names, and then a vote was put out for the five names that were most suitable. I think it is important to align with the values of OLS, so perhaps a general discussion meeting/brainstorm on this would be a good start? That would help members with proposing names (if this is part of the process).

TO KNOW POSSIBLE NAME OLS SHOULD USE WHY REBRANDING
First why are you considering renaming it, maybe if you can really know why you are rebranding it will go a long way,
Is it going to affect the community, you can really answer that if you conduct a research through surveys
Secondly consider what your employees and client thinks about it
Then we also have to consider the core values and mission and vision

Hi @EstherPlomp It is very insightful to have a feedback from someone who is already in the community. When you say a general discussion meeting, does this include us current applicant or just the community members? And definitely it would be a good start.

Thank you very much for going through this .

@jilaga I like your ideas, the part about the total rebrand/ full rebrand is spot on

During the call we had on Friday, @yochannah had given us a brief insights as to how the name OLS came to be and after a being around for a while, I can imagine it has stuck with some folks, therefore, a full rebrand might be a bit of a hassle without proper PR to follow. I would suggest on the brand name; if there is a way we can maintain the OLS acronym or something close to it in a way that sells the community adequately to investors and volunteers/mentees/facilitators.
Giving a fresh look to the community without taking away the core people have been used to then slowly as the years progress if there is still need for it, a total rebrand of the community appearance. I mean facebook did it, why can’t OLS right? The community doesn’t currently have the PR facebook has though, that should be put in consideration too.

For the look of the website itself, we can do a modern full rebrand of the website in a simple and clear manner that isn’t drastic but would leave anyone visiting it in awe. Again, as time progresses, other changes can be added that would definitely be unrecognisable to the current look.

My point in excess is to think about the current users too. We shouldn’t do too much of a drastic change they now find it harder to interact and identify with the community.

@Bisola15 you capture my sentiments in exact words. I too would vote for a partial Rebrand because I don't think a community that has 400 members and active investors would adjust easily to a total overhaul of the brand. We can adjust certain elements to catch up to trends while maintaining the core aspects and identity of the brand.

Generally the first thing that comes to.mind
when a product, organisation a brand or company is to be renamed, what pops up in mind is what happen? Why rename or rebrand such a name, are Users complaining or what? Or is it to increase its value or create more awareness? I will be so inquisitive to know the reason, this will dare me to begin background check on the product, brand, company or organisation, what they do? the year of it's existence, how it has impacted lives among other things that is if I am not familiar with the brand bearing in mind that a tree doesn't make a.forest and these information.gathered would not cover all that need to uncovered so this to gain more answers or come up with ideas on remaining the brand, a user research needs to be carry out, and this could be done through user interviews and surveys , Competitive analysis as well as focusing on a particular audience who are familiar with the brand , with questions like why they chose to use the OLS? how they interact with OLS? what was their experience? What they like about OLS? What they dislike about OLS? are they Comfortable with the brand name? If they are, what are their reasons, and if they are not what name would they suggest that would easily be understood and adopted by a lay man and or Five year Old? This survey however shouldn't be limited to just users who are familiar with the brand but also to those who are not familiar with the product but are using similar brands, this will help create more awareness to them that such a brand or product exists and also give room for better suggestions to improve on a brand.
Also, If about Open Life Science (OLS) should be renamed, I would suggest Life Source Community (LSC) because I see community as a group of people and everything science/life happen within a community, Secondly,Source can be seen as an open channel where life evolves. And since life and science seem similar one should replace the other. So I would suggest the name to be renamed to Life Source Community (LSC).

Hello Blessing, I like your suggestions. To answer one important question here; the reason for OLS rebrand was stated in the document on Outreachy. The reason is because OLS has expanded and has been adopted by researchers in other field such as Law, anthropology etc
And the name OLS means Open Life Science which might not be inclusive of researches in other fields.

The name Ochly is a combination of all the main elements that make OLS, OLS/the main values that the OLS community wishes to give to their target audience and the world.

o= Open source ch= CoHort programmes L = Life Sciences y= yearLY (twice a year)

Benefits of the name Ochly

  • Upholds a unique, exciting, and purposeful brand name that people would love to identify with. E.g Best Ochlies (OLS scientists) of 2023.
  • Ochly is pronounced Oak-ly- and the Oak tree has been known to be a symbol of long life for centuries. The fact that Ochly sounds like Oak- which is a sort of “tree of life” further iterates OLS core messages of which one of which is Life and Life science.
  • Ochly is fun and easy to pronounce.

  1. Groups
  2. Interviews

Here is the Google Doc for Rebranding OLS to Open STEM

Love that all presentations are extensively detailed and straight to the point. And I like the logos from @latifatakin @Lydiaofficial and all others.

I also think putting already existing members to consideration is top tier. As we want them to be able to interact easily with the community.

Brand name suggestions could be carried out via;

  1. Conducting interview
  2. Survey questions and
  3. Group discussions

Open STEM and OCHLY seem to have really great concepts to them. And yes, OCHLY does sound like a leaf 😅

Hello @yochannah, I'm so sorry I'm participating in this brainstorming session so late. I've had some PC issues, which have seriously affected my work.

I think conducting a closed survey among mentors, interns, and community members would be ideal to find possible names. Some proposed survey questions are:

  1. When did it first occur to you that OLS needs a re-brand?
  2. Do you think OLS has transcended its current brand identity?
  3. What (additional) messages or values would the new identity need to convey?
  4. What are the inadequacies of the current branding?
    SECTION TWO:
  5. Describe OLS in three words.
  6. What clear-cut purposes should the new identity serve?
  7. Will this rebranding be required to be just a facelift or a total overhaul of the entire brand image?
  8. How has the vision and mission of OLS expanded beyond the initial core values?

I went ahead to create a Google Form for the survey, and it can be accessed here: https://forms.gle/PhnSS1C75bdvcJb87.
Please let me know if there are any improvements I can make.

Rebranding OLS is not as simple as tweaking your logo and slapping the new version onto your website. the process of rebranding your company image has become will be come complex not only technical but as a business or Organization.

Due to need to new strategic rebranding campaign will help draw the attention that you’re after. wanting to have a new look on things.
Partners and customers interests, in order to widen a business, OLS will want to change the name. Reasons to modify the impact of the organization on the objectives of the Organization.
Expansion at times calls for change in things, which would be a positive change.

 Mergers and Acquisitions

While OLS is focusing more on Science without limit, its creating a new brand altogether with a bigger vision for its brand much as we love the former name, we ought to apply all the strength we have gained over the years to put in action a new name, new brand so we can better represent the values and core of our developments.
Initially the dream was only based on sciences but now we have training and mentoring, we have open science which brings people of different cultures together. We Share and Connect through Open Science. Accepting all people with different lifes.

To my opinion , Open Life Science is big organization that has lived to enjoy the fruits of the initial name
My suggestions however on this matter is to partially rebrand, keep part of the old brand. It is important because of the reputation kept for a long time and the Popularity it has acquired, the achievements for a longtime.
When the old reasons meet the new. Its like your past and future meets the present. We focus on the future where it will need to have the core of the initial design to tell the story.
Initial values will be a foundation for the future perfection and promotion.

Reasons for the name;

We can easily tie it into life science projects (bioinformatics, biology, plants, humans, biomedical). So this and other values will be maintained.
Partnerships and funding targeted to life scientists are accessible and easy to justify in OLS
Opportunity to work across different life science, health and biomedical projects and communities through direct collaboration
Empowerment, connecting, Sharing Values and other core values .Will be maintained but also the future turn in innovations the organisation is willing to perform will have a platform to be boosted.
New planning will be made as the rebranding will brainstorm the partners, mentors, and planners to think of better management and sustenance.
Diversity of the Organisation will be given Chance, yet still having a great goal set that parties will build on to develop.
Achieve new goals.
Another benefit to half branding is that you can significantly the focus on both old and new efforts, allowing you to achieve new bigger goals..
. While your goals and mission as OLS may have adapted over time to your customers’ unique needs and challenges, rebrand may not clearly reflect that anymore.

CONFUSION BRINGS CHAOS
Change is scary, mainly because no one knows for sure what the end result will be. People can become easily confused or frustrated whenever change occurs.

By publishing press releases, posting announcements to social media and sending email newsletters you can keep everyone aware of what’s going on, and what’s coming down the pike. Communication is absolutely crucial during a rebranding project.

OLS May lose Sponsors, Customers and some partners.
If a proper rebranding strategy is not built and implemented in the right way, you risk losing some of your existing sponsors, Partners and customers. Unfortunately, even if you do everything right, there is still a possibility that you could them Why? Most People don’t like change. By explaining your reasons for the rebrand clearly, and remaining true to your values and conscious of your customers’ needs, you can minimize the risk of losing long-time customers however half branding can keep them.

It might be costly in the wrong run in time and ,money to create the content and publishing it, also achieve the level of materials used
A new challenge which would be a good advantage.
My partial rebrand
I suggest Open Science in Mentoring and Training. OSMT or OpenSMT

How to best handle the rebranding of OLS.
OLS will be changed to Open Science in Mentoring and Training(OSMT)
Or less branding.
In addition to updating your logo on your website, you will likely have to update it on several different online applications. There is a long list of additional and tedious updates that must be completed across all of your online facing applications. These updates must also be completed in a timely manner, and must be communicated clearly to existing and potential customers to avoid any confusion or inconsistency.

Website name will be www.osmt.org
And the emails will go to [email protected]
The twitter account changed to twitter@osmt
Add +1 next to the statements that you agree with
Update the website content so the organisation is named only OLS (with some info on historical name and reasons to update)
Fully rebrand: Update website content, website domain name, Twitter handle, Slack, emails etc.
If you agree with this, any suggestions for a future domain name and/or Twitter handle? (ols.org/ Twitter @ols would be almost impossible to obtain)
Please add your points here

creative rebranding strategy, new content, graphic design, as well as marketing and advertising campaigns to support your project. While there are ways to save money during a rebrand, it is definitely worth investing some money to ensure that it is done effectively.
