Yep, you're seeing that right. I was actually that dumb. I tried uploading my C drive.
The remove, rebuild, and add collection buttons all do not work anymore. I can still use the chat models just fine. This was my first attempt at adding local files to gpt4all and was unsure what I was doing, as this is my first successful attempt at installing a local AI model. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!
Hello.
I do not know why the buttons don't work. But -
Do not define LocalDocs collections that refer to an entire drive, or to Desktop.
Instead, try placing the files dealing with the same subject in their own folder, and afterwards you select that particular folder to create the corresponding collection.
For instance, one folder with PDFs about astronomy, another folder with PDFs or whatever readable files about a subject in meteorology (say, "localdocs_tornadoes"), another one with files about history, another folder with the books/writings of author John Doe (say, the Hairy Porter series), and so on - law, economy, politics, news from year Y, whatever subjects of interest may be there.
The names of those folders will help you know what's inside them at a glance - files on a certain subject.
