Git is great to keep software under version control. But what are the best practices for using git/github? How do you prevent, for instance, people deleting git history and/or moving/deleting repositories? Some guidance on this direction should be provided (included in the guide?)

Do you think this addresses the problem? If not, could you be more specific about the kind of guidance you are thinking about?

@jmaassen -- I believe this issue was created from an incident on a previous project, correct? Would the guidance address that issue (assuming people followed this advice?)
