growth busters

GrowthBusters: Hooked on Growth - the Movie

This groundbreaking documentary challenges our beliefs linking growth with prosperity and fulfillment. The film explores how our attitudes toward economic growth, consumption and population growth prevent rational responses to evidence we’ve outgrown the planet.

In this David vs. Goliath story, filmmaker Dave Gardner shares his own personal story of daring to challenge our growth-worshipping system. He is rebuked by elected officials who are deacons of the church of growth everlasting. He takes on millionaire real-estate developers enriched by public growth subsidies, and he tackles economists who spin pro-growth propaganda.

GrowthBusters weaves the tale of Gardner’s efforts to wean his hometown from growth addiction, with examination of the most critical global issues of our time. Interviews with leading thinkers, animation and humorous skits debunk the “grow or die” myth. Cultural myths and taboos are exposed and explored.

Providing a ray of hope, the film also profiles groups and individuals exploring alternatives and moving the world toward true sustainability.

Stanford Biologist Paul Ehrlich: "This could be the most important film ever made."

800–900 million years in the future

Carbon dioxide levels will fall to the point at which C4 photosynthesis is no longer possible.[75] Without plant life to recycle oxygen in the atmosphere, free oxygen and the ozone layer will disappear from the atmosphere allowing for intense levels of deadly UV light to reach the surface. In the book The Life and Death of Planet Earth, authors Peter D. Ward and Donald Brownlee state that some animal life may be able to survive in the oceans. Eventually, however, all multicellular life will die out.[77] At most, animal life could survive about 100 million years after plant life dies out, with the last animals being animals that do not depend on living plants such as termites or those near hydrothermal vents such as worms of the genus Riftia.[68] The only life left on the Earth after this will be single-celled organisms.

und sowieso ...

Georgia Guidestones

1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.

also kollaps zu 500 millionen menschen.
aktuell haben wir 8.000 millionen menschen.
500 / 8000 = 6 / 100 ... also ungefähr 5 / 100

2. Guide reproduction wisely — improving fitness and diversity.

6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.

... damit selbstorganisation funktioniert.
man braucht mehrere dörfer für ...
vermeiden von inzucht
spezialisierung, arbeitsteilung, handel
puffern von ernteausfällen (versicherung)
kleinkriege zwischen dörfern (selektion und training)

Delete The Garbage. World Cure. RD9 Virus. The Brothers Grimsby 2016

It's a virus called RD9. Or as I like to call it, World Cure.

At the end of the game
every one in the stadium will be infected.

It should take two to three weeks
for symptoms to start showing up.

By which time 96 000 fans
from almost every country in the world
will be back home
spreading the disease.

Why are you doing this?

Well, think about it.

We have seven billion people
running around on a planet
that can only hold five.

I'm just trying to make the world
a better place, that's all.

By deleting the surplus.

"Cure the world."

And who exactly
do you intend to "delete"?

The garbage.

The imbeciles who lie around drunk
reproducing like rabbits.

And sitting there with their hand out
expecting the rest of us to pay.

And let's be frank
who's gonna miss them anyway?

You are!

No, haha .... kill him

The Matrix: Agent Smith Discusses Satanic Belief That Humanity Is A Cancer Extended

I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here.
It came to me when I tried to classify your species.
I realized that you're not actually mammals.

Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops
a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment,
but you humans do not.

You move to an area, and you multiply, and multiply,
until every natural resource is consumed.
The only way you can survive is to spread to another area.

There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern.
Do you know what it is?
A virus.

Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet,
you are a plague, and we are the cure.

pinned, because overpopulation is the number 1 problem worldwide

Planet Of The Humans: Highly Recommended. by Gary Wockner (archive)

First and foremost, the film’s major premise is that the American environmental movement completely ignores the “elephant in the room”, human population growth. The filmmaker, Jeff Gibbs, as well as other experts interviewed in the film make this point several times:

· “Though each of them takes climate change seriously, every expert I talked to wanted to bring my attention to the same underlying problem.” — Jeff Gibbs

· “There are too many human beings using too much, too fast.” — Richard Heinberg

· “As a global community we have really got to start dealing with the issue of population.” — Steven Churchill

· “Population growth continues to be, not the elephant, the herd of elephants in the room.” — Nina Jablonski

There are, in fact, very few environmental groups that even have population programs — the Center for Biological Diversity being a notable exception — while none of the groups highlighted in the film have population programs.

The famous environmentalist and Sierra Club Director, David Brower, once said that “Population is pollution spelled inside out”, but Brower’s successors at the Sierra Club have erased Brower’s population legacy at the Club. Further, no environmental group — as in NONE — has a program about reducing population growth in the U.S., a country whose rapidly growing populace is among the biggest consumers and polluters in the world.

...why?
because there are no legal solutions.
because there are no peaceful solutions.
because we absolutely need more "death rate solutions" (paul ehrlich)
(death rate solutions increase the death rate)

The elephant in the room: the role of interest groups in creating and sustaining the population taboo

In the mid-1990s, elements of the social justice movement joined growthists and religious conservatives in a veritable Greek chorus of opposition to the problematisation of population growth.

This unlikely alliance was highly successful in mainstreaming population denialism as well as turning overpopulation into a taboo subject, especially in the West.

In the quarter-century since, natural scientists, environmentalists, demographers, journalists and policy-makers have systematically avoided problematising population growth, with grave consequences to public awareness and debate as well as to interdisciplinary experts’ ability to properly diagnose the causes of and most effective remedies for climate change and a plethora of other creeping catastrophes.

In this chapter I trace the ideological roots of population denialism and the taboo to age-old growthist ideation in combination with the shaming discourse and idealised expectations of human behaviour from late-18th-century utopian thought.

The problem of overpopulation has become vastly worse over the last 200 years or so, but the rhetorical strategies for dismissing and shutting down discussion on the issue have hardly changed.
