Filtering across modules

hey everyone, filtering across different module links is impossible, right?

so taking this as an example:

if I wanted to filter the products by collection_id, how can I do so?

I saw in the documentation that this is not possible, but I wanted to know about alternatives, it's not possible that I am the only person who thinks this is pretty basic for any use case.
