Sliders for product variables

Hello,

Let's say I want to sell pieces of wood, I would like to be able to have a slider for length and width that for example people can move along or type in the required value. Going through the product, I can't see that capability is built in (only options like Small, Medium, Large for example).

I'm a little new to the product and struggling to find out:
A) Can this sort of functionality be implemented or is there some sort of technical blocker
B) If it can, what is the easiest and ideally best way to do this, is it through a plug-in or similar?
