[Feature Request] API to create virtual disk view

It would be great to add an API to easily create a virtual disk view.

This view can then be populate via a list of virtual items such as files/folders (but could represent anything really) and their metadata, add remove single/muliple files, trigger various actions and events that can be hooked into such as select, del, copy, move, rename, keys pressed, mouse clicks, drag/drop and custom context menu options.

This would allow developers to easily build plugins to add support for new services and interact with current ones such as a web API or a command line tool in a visual way and interact with other views e.g drag item from one to other.
