Currently there are 58 open issues with chapter requests. For each need to reach out and determine if they:

  • Are no longer interested
  • Have already formed and have been meetings so need to be fully onboarded
  • Need more info/guidance on how to get started

@geobrando I think messaging everyone might be a lot to do, and these are all 3+ years old. Should we just close them all? Or at least close any issue where someone asked for their github username and nobody responded?

I see now you have emailed some folks, where did you find their email?

@aawiseman Those that submitted a chapter request had their email addresses recorded in a google doc which I thought I shared with you before. Maybe I didn't. I reached out to those that were listed in the doc but did not have their request fulfilled. Figured it was worth an email to ask. I got to some of them but lost momentum earlier in the year. I also get forwarded the email that are sent to [email protected] and a few people had followed up there over the years. I'm not sure how much time I'm going to have to spend reviewing all of them so fine with me if we close them.

A necessary step is probably having someone update the website with a new post that there is support available again. I wouldn't do that though unless there are several people who are dedicated to assisting. I can help out when I have time but can't do it alone. Also the start a chapter process here was broken as typeform made some changes that broke. If I remember correctly there was some functionality that is now only available through a paid subscription. I think I was able to fix it but I disabled the form as there is no use in allowing people to request chapters if no one is there to add their info and add them to Slack.
