To build a non DRM master stick used to do a install on an m1 with an earlier m1 software
already installd.
These sticks are for internal use only. Do not let it get outside the office.
1. Check out the code and change into the directory
svn co svn+ssh://[username]@feuerworks.dyndns.org/home/svn/magden/dist/jway/trunk jway
cd jway
2. Clean out old packfiles, if existent
rm -f packfiles/*
3. Build
make packfile PSKINS=jway/jway_core
To build a roll demo: do PSKINS=jway/roll_demo instead.
4. Create zip file.
sh create_zip mydist.zip.
5. Unpack to USB stick.
Make sure a formatted USB stick is inserted.
Unpack mydist.zip to the USB stick. No boot loeader is needed on USB stick.
6. Boot the M1 with the master stick inserted.
7. Wait until install is complete. Remove stick and power cycle the M1.
The master stick can also be used to upgrade a running system by inserting
it *after* the m1 has booted. In this case the software will be installed
but the on board database will not be erased.
The only difference between a bootable master stick and a regular stick with
upgrade packfiles are the two files INITRD and LINUX on the stick.
