Feature description

One thing we miss from the older builders tool is the ability to paste a constructed building outside of a colony. This was often a great way to paste in a schematic quickly for decoration.

Perhaps a new build option of "Paste Constructed" to complement the "Paste Schematic" when in Creative mode?

Anything else?

That option exists when minecolonies is installed (as that is actually a minecolonies feature), and the option to make it a schematic world is turned on in its server config (blueprintbuildmode)

Bear in mind that enabling blueprint build mode also disables the ability to paste constructed buildings inside a colony (and to start a colony in the first place).

The Right Way™ is to place guard towers to expand your colony borders, then get the builder to build the decorations. You can then deconstruct the towers if you don't actually want the borders to extend that far, and the decorations will remain.

So sounds like there isn't a 'good way' apart from The Right Way. And The Right Way is extremely limiting if I have to be in range of a colony+guards.

What I want is to be able to creative build schematics/scans/decos around my world outside of a colony (with actual air+dirt instead of placeholder blocks). Build an abandoned town, or decorate a goal for my players, etc.

Scans and decos without a hut block should work fine in creative mode, dont they?

Looks like scans/decos work fine. So that's definitely a start, thanks for the clarification @Raycoms.

But there is no way to paste a hut-based building outside a colony?

Not at the moment, because those, even in the past, wouldnt be functional then because of the absence of a colony, which would get us bug reports, so we opted on blocking this atm

For server purposes, you can temporarily set the server to blueprint mode, do building/deco pasting for decorational purposes, and reset to normal mode before players start playing for example.
