SMB to network storage(Dell/EMC Isilon) not working

Looking to add SMB fs location but nothing happens in jupyterlab

Built a docker image using dockerfile starting with the jupyterlab data science image at quay.io/repository/jupyter/datascience-notebook:latest. The extension is enabled and ok but when I go to add an SMB resource nothing happens and I get the below screenshot from docker. I have tried to create the resource in the advanced settings editor as well as in the GUI editor with the same results. The network storage resource is a Dell/EMC Isilon.

It was my expectation that doing wither would be able to open a remote file location via SMB and display it in the file manager.

The goal is to eventually make this available in our k8s cluster.
