Describe your use-case which is not covered by existing documentation.
In #2553 several discrepancies between current practice and the documentation were observed:
The developer documentation states that "the typical way to [reach out to existing maintainer(s)] is […] to add her/his/their email addresses in CC," contra Add basil to sloccount #2553 (comment) which states "currently we just do [pings to maintainers] via GitHub".
Neither the submitter checklist nor the developer documentation makes any mention of an obligation on the part of the submitter to ping the hosting team after the two-week timeout period has expired, contra Add basil to sloccount #2553 (comment) which states "if they want access they have an obligation to [ping the hosting team after the two-week timeout period has expired]."
Updating the documentation to accurately describe current practice will decrease the barrier to entry for those who are not familiar with current practice.
Reference any relevant documentation, other materials or issues/pull requests that can be used for inspiration.
