At the moment when I launch an application from default Linux dash-to-panel shows that application icon as running. If I start multiple instances of that app then it groups them together. This is nice.
The problem arises when I launch an application for the first time from another application. This can happen in this cases.
When an application is launched by another application for the first time the child app is grouped under the icon of the parent app. This is highy confusing. I would like for the app to be grouped by app name and not by who launched the app for the first time.
This is even more confusing because lets say that I happened to open chrome from command line and then I want to open chrome using the mouse and navigate to a site. I lick on the taskbar favorite chrome but the new instance of chrome is not triggering that chrome is marked as running. Chrome gets a new instance but is just groups chrome to the current running chrome instance that is under terminal icon and that is just very frustrating. This happens the same with Nautilus or any other app.
How do I group applications by application name and in case I have a favorite icon to be brouped on top of that favorite icon and not by the process that launched that app for the first time? It is just very confusing that I need to hover over the terminal or any other app except chrome or nautilus in order to locate an instance of chrome or nautilus.
