IP Leak / Kill Switch

I‘d like to start a general “hardening“ & kill-switch discussion. Afterwards I’ll collect the feedback and open a PR adding to the docs (if that’s ok).

I believe privacy is important to us all and this topic should be revisited and improved (if possible). I’m happy to tackle open issues, contribute, or fund some bounties, but I might need some help getting started.

I have some questions that have been hard to answer (trying to go through code and old issues).

• What safeties are built-in by default?
• What safeties can additionally be enabled already (via ENV)?
• What can go wrong? What has to happen for the safeties to fail?
• Can we tell if IP may have been leaked (e.g. via logs)? If not, could this be added?
