This is an interesting looking engine.
I'm curious as to why Graphics2d/AWT was chosen for the rendering API. It seems kinda....old? I've lots of experience in Java but minimal with graphics.
What are the pros and cons for choosing AWT over say OpenGL or even Vulkan? It seems for example you wont be able to use OpenGL Shaders which can be quite powerful even for a pure 2D game.
