Get camera version is called twice, for no apparent reason

Describe the bug
Upon initiating a wiredGoPro object, the cameras version is retrieved twice, back to back. Can one call be eliminated?

If I do a pull request, will anyone actually consider merging it? There are a number of issues I am tracking, and there doesn't seem to be a lot of official movement.
