Can COHN be used to connect the GoPro to a phone AP?

I have to develop an app that controls the camera to record and download media files to a phone, and then send these videos to a server. I connected the phone to the camera's AP, but with this setup, if I have the data plan enabled for internet connectivity, the HTTP API is not accessible because the OS tries to route all traffic through the network that has internet access.

So, I was wondering if I can use COHN so that the camera connects to the phone's hotspot. This way, I assume the API will be accessible, and I will be able to connect to my server. Am I on the right path?
