Sorry for this message. And thank you all for your codes, contributions & feedback & bugs reports.

I am not happy with the current situation of 1/ the 1.0.1 version and 2/ the current git version. For me the last usable or stable version is 1.0.0rc3 !

I got feed-backs that the 1.0.1 packaged version of GDL does contain basic bugs : basic plots are not working, PNG & JPEG are not OK. I also tested/experienced it myself. Gasp. Such a behavior should have blocked the issue of 1.0.1 until being fixed. (it is my fault too). We should move to a 1.0.2 ASAP.

Concerning main branch in the Git version :

• Linux :

  • I cannot compile GDL without X11 and without Wxwidgets (this is mandatory for some of my HPC nodes. Several papers have been completed thank to that !)
  • if I compile with wxwidgets the hyper basic plots are broken (plot, findgen(10) gives ... nothing. just a black void window. plotting again helps ...)
  • I cannot compile GDL on my laptop with u2204 without wxwidgets compilation KO with -DWIDGETS=of #1381

• OSX :

  • Until recently when I compiled on OSX remotely, I can have locally plots. Not now since I cannot compile without wxwidget
    and in that case I cannot have plots through the network. OSX 12.3.1 not OK remotely #1395

I have no problem with wxwidget driver as long as basic compilation & tasks are not broken ! 😆

I do consider it should not happen like that in the main branch. All these cases should always work as usual after a code
is merged in the main branch. (OK currently I am busy with JWST data and I cannot check as frequently as I did before, sorry.)

From my point of view, and to help me to assist end-users currently in trouble because of several small regressions (bad plots, #1354 #1333 ...) we should fix what I list above ASAP, then deliver a 1.0.2, the sooner the better, then work again on wxwidget & plots & 3D. I am ready to make the tests on several machines (u1604, u1804, u2004, U2204, debian 10 & 11, multiples OSX) but I have just no time to look at the code (sorry).
