The current save file gets deleted after you die.

Are you certain that this is an issue?

There are two types of saves for this game:

manual save: only usable on the world map
quick save: a save that is created whenever you quit the game to allow you to continue at the exact same point you left off (this one gets deleted whenever you get defeated)
