The dbus-next library appears to be unmaintained – last commit was over two years ago, and the tests are broken on Python 3.12: altdesktop/python-dbus-next#161
Would you consider migrating to dbus-fast (a maintained successor)?
As a matter of fact, I have already been considering a move to dbus-fast, due to a problem I'm facing in another project. I probably won't investigate in earnest until the next Debian release, though, because that will bring a more recent version into wide circulation.
