Load backgrounds with ffmpeg

The current SDL_Image + Cairo combo is fine so far for loading and prescaling, but won't encode thumbnails (see #78), and using a vector graphics library for scaling a picture is not the best fit.

ffmpeg has everything we need without introducing any new dependency. https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Scaling
