Describe the problem you'd like to solve
A friend of mine cycles in London, and has told me that she feels there are no current services/apps to provide cyclists with a safe route home, particularly during the evenings. Most of the time, apps tell her her the best way to get home from central london to north london is via the canal - where there is little visibility (i.e. lights) and coverage (surveillance) from residential places. She would rather have a longer cycle route home to feel safer.

Who are the stakeholders?
Cyclists, perhaps even pedestrians/those who user public transport?

What is currently being done to solve this problem?
There is an app called Safe & the City, and although this has a lot of great features (sos call button, closest 'safest' place' this doesn't have a cyclist option.

I love this one as I have recently started cycling and it has made me think more about what the 'quiet' or 'safe' route means- Citymapper often directs me onto the canal as it's low-traffic and therefore quiet, but even apart from the lighting it probably isn't safe to be alone on the canal at night!

Such a fan of this idea. You basically beat me too it. I hate being sent down canals in and through parks in the dark. Great thinking!!!
