Currently we don't properly emulate the DVD authentication which means you need a modded kernel ( usually referred to as bios by idiots) which does allow you to run copied games.

I have started a bit of work on DVD authentication a couple of years ago.
I'll add more information to this issue soon. Please remind me if I don't.
