@MartijnR, I think that an issue reported by one of our users is another manifestation of this: kobotoolbox/kpi#2078. In their case, they had a repeating group containing exclusively calculate questions, and this caused TypeError: Cannot set property 'textContent' of null in Chrome and TypeError: i[0].querySelector(...) is null in Firefox.
