Problem

Whenever I do a fresh install of elementaryOS, I need to connect to my phone via USB-tethering to install dkms, then install my USB WiFi drivers (which I store in my secondary hard drive). This probably doesn't affect laptop users as their WiFi chip usually works OOTB but for desktop users, it may be a problem, especially if they have an unsupported WiFi card.

Proposal

Include dkms OOTB so users can install any number of drivers that they have stored in say, a USB stick and be able to use their machines.

Notes

I do realise that if a user needed to install external drivers, they should probably just copy over the dkms deb file as well (including any required dependencies). This is mostly for end-user convenience and perhaps also convenient to future OEMs to install any required drivers they need.
