Cant select second storage

Describe the bug
System wont allow to select SD card as second storage, shows a privacy error

To Reproduce

1. SD Maid shows a message to select second storage permission
2. Press the red button
3. Switch to SD card
4. Use folder option is grayed out and it shows a privacy error

Expected behavior
To select SD card as second storage without error

See if you can downgrade the google files app. Google has added restrictions to newer versions of that app and "backported" some changes from newer Android versions this way.

I have exactly same issue. I tried all old versions from here and it didn't work. Also it can't see the "data" folder, for some reason.
