Get (default) display resolution from system settings

IMHO the input fields should bee filled with the current display resolution of the device, by default.

Dippi is not really intended to be used to look up information about your current system, so I'm not sure how valuable that is. It's intended to aid in purchasing a machine, and if you already have it… what are you going to do? 😛

Actually, I am checking it afterwards (as it has only now been released as a flatpak), so this was a new software for me.

On the other hand: Why not use the system configuration? I see no argument against this here. Any default value is better than no default value.

And IMHO you need an advantage of such a software project compared to a simple website, which may also just calculate that stuff… 😉

I don't want people to think it's only useful/intended to check their current hardware, though. Maybe that's not a realistic concern.

Couple of notes: I'd probably want to just grab the "primary" display, as I don't care to write a whole bunch of multi-display logic and UI (especially when you can always type in values).

I just re-installed Dippi and was absolutely expecting this behaviour, then came here to open a report about "Why not use the default screen resolution and put it into that input field?" and well… here we are.

In other words: I still support this. Just as a demo, so you have some useful values from the start and can see how well it works. Or you can see how bad your current monitor is, to let you buy a new one… 😜

Anyway, seriously, I think when you want to try out the app for the first time (or second after you have forgotten you had it 😉 ) such demo values would be the first to grab (and I am way too lazy now to go to the system settings and copy it from there). From there you may adjust it anyway.

I don't think so at all, because the input boxes are clearly input boxes and can be changed. IMHO this is obvious.

I'll have to check if this is something I can realistically grab in a Flatpak/Wayland world. 🤔
