Issue description

Xbox One Controller (Bluetooth) no longer working with Steam and Steam Link since Batocera 40

Detailed reproduction steps

I've updated from Batocera 39 to Batocera 40. Everything else works fine but my Xbox One Controller (Bluetooth) no longer working with Steam or Steam Link (both installed via flatpak). In Steam Link it shows me that the controller has been recognized, but no input is accepted. Direct Input controllers via bluetooth work, Xbox One Controller wired via USB works as well. There was no problem here with Batocera 38 and 39.

Details of any attempts to fix this yourself

  1. I have re-paired the controller via Bluetooth.
  2. I've updated the Xbox One Controller.
  3. I've tried two different Bluetooth-Adapters.
  4. I've tried a Direct Input controller, which works (maybe a Bluetooth/XInput-Problem?).
  5. I've tried Xbox One Controller wired via USB, which works.
  6. I've uninstalled Steam and Steam Link and installed it again.

Details of any modifications you have made to Batocera.

I have installed Steam and Steam Link via flatpak.

I reproduce the issue, but I have not really tested Steam in prior versions to v39. But right now, this issue is still present.

Might be something with SDL -- most apps outside of the emulators don't work. The Xbox wireless USB adapter does work though.

I don't believe this is unique to the Xbox One controller. This also impacts the 8bitdo SN30 Pro. I suspect that it may affect all Bluetooth X-Input controllers, but I have no others to test.

I was able to work around this by pairing the controller with an 8bitdo USB bluetooth adapter, setting both the adapter and the controller to X-Input.

I posted this issue at the Discord channel a while back. No one got back to me about it.
