I have a question about connecting Artisan RC Phidgets. #1546
-
"Hello. I have a question about connecting Artisan RC Phidgets. A while ago, I read articles and watched videos on the Artisan blog and forum, and I purchased an RCC0004 - PhidgetAdvancedServo 8-Motor product and tried to connect it. It works fine in the Phidget Control Panel, but when I connect it as described in the blog post to the Artisan event-slider, it doesn't work. I've searched for various information, but couldn't find a solution. Is there a way to connect it? Referenced link: https://artisan-roasterscope.blogspot.com/2019/03/artisan-v161.html#more I know you're busy, but I would appreciate any help. Thank you." |

I searched but couldn't find my server hardware anymore. Thus I cannot test if this still works. However, I assume it does. Which version of artisan are you using? Did you close the phidget control panel before testing with artisan? Only one app is able to talk to the hardware. What is your exact artisan configuration? Could you please attach your artisan settings by drag and drop here on the Github page (export via menu Help >> Save Settings and rename the file to end in .txt to allow the upload). Thanks, |

"Thank you for your response. The artisan version I'm using is 2.10.4, which is the latest version. Before using it, I closed the Phidget Control Panel and tested it. Here are the artisan settings you requested. Additionally, regarding the pulse and position you mentioned, they are set as follows: However, it doesn't work." |

Found the cause. Your RCC controller is simply not supported by Artisan (cf. https://artisan-scope.org/devices/phidgets/). |

Thank you for your response. I purchased an rc0004 as a replacement for Phidget 1061 on the Phidget website, but it seems it's not compatible for use. I found a forum post where someone used a Phidget RCC 1000 with HUB0000_0 to send rc commands. However, I searched and found that HUB0000_0 has been replaced by HUB0000_1. Would it still be possible to make it work by connecting Phidget RCC 1000 with HUB0000_1? And regarding the hardware configuration you mentioned earlier, is it Phidget RCC 1000 and HUB0000_0? |

The HUB0000_0, HUB0000_1 and HUB0000_2 are fully compatible featuring the exact same API. But your incompatibility is not with the HUB but with the motor controller. I will add support for your RC0004. Give me a minute. |

Makomo, I'm truly grateful that you enabled me to use the RCC0004. I was debating whether I should buy another product, but your response has been immensely helpful. I guess I'll have to wait for the next version update. |

No. You do not have to wait. I commited that change already and new continuous builds are currently produced by our CI. Might take another 30min until all builds are ready and uploaded. Please report if this now works as expected. Thanks! |

Just looked at your setup. Not sure if all those WebSocket commands under Events make sense. They seem to be inherited from a previous Probat Series III setup. |
