Router Template #15
Comments
If a 'strumebt bezel' is a bezel that accommodates one or more encoders, then the template is used with a router and a 'flush' bit to remove the material (wood, plastic) to make space to install an encoder. I've used it to install encoders required in a C172 open cockpit which I completed last year. Without Allen's printed 3D files for printing the bezels, I think I'd still be trying to learn 3D software rather than building the cockpit. |
That's beautiful what you have built and thank you for the reply.
I will certainly be printing all the bezels and understand what a router
template "should" be used for, but cannot see how the printed router
template supplied, was to be used.
Sorry if I'm sounding so dumb, but maybe I will just need to print it and
try to figure it out.
Thanks again for the reply.

Hi JT,
Within the next couple of days, I’ll send you one or more pictures that will hopefully give you a hint or two! Please be patient, I’m undergoing chemotherapy treatments which cause me to be useless on some days. I have cancer of the bladder which many people have had and are today near top-shape. I remain positive and keep busy with fliightsim projects including helping others realize their dream.
All the best, JJ

I would prefer you rest and get well. My sister went through years of
chemo and am familiar with the exercise and difficulties of cancer - from
the observer side.
Please take care of yourself and don't worry about my inquiry.

You’re very kind JT. But luckily I do have good days and it’s on those days that I enjoy life by engaging in worthwhile things for me and others.

Good Day Sir,
How is life treating you and how are you managing your treatment? I hope
things are doing well and the chemo is not giving too many terrible side
effects.
Hopefully you will be able to get back to normal as soon as possible.
Regards,
Jeff Thompson

The router template is setup so that you can place it into the 3 1/8" hole you have cut into your 1/4 board. Then use a flush trim bit in your router so that it follows the inside of the router template. Here is a video for using Flush Trim bits with a router that might help: Good luck! |
Has anyone used the 3d printed router Template for the I strumebt bezel?
I am curious how it's used.
