Calling update_last_called

Does any one have an automation that calls the update_last_called service frequently? I have been trying to capture when I add items to my Alexa to do list and pass the request to conversation.process to have Assist add it to my Home Assistant to do list, but I need to call update_last_called to capture the request reliably. I was thinking of setting up an automation to call it every few seconds, but I figure Amazon would probably ban this behavior. Does anyone know how often might be acceptable use?
