No longer skipping sponsored segments #2138
Comments
I have the same issue. { Warn: Debug: |
I'm having the same problem. |
Same problem with Firefox on Arch Linux. |
Does it happen on specific videos? What happens if you reload? |
It happens on any video with a segment marked Sponsor. It happens when the video is reloaded as well. Over the next couple of days I will collect more data in regard to some videos you can test and the debug logs for each if you want them. Edit: I'll also try uninstalling and reinstalling the extension. |
As if right now, the last 3 videos I checked with sponsor segments are skipping. If I find some that are failing I will report it here. |
Could some people try this:
This helps test if there is a YouTube A/B test affecting things And then click the sponsorblock icon in the top right and "Copy debug info" |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMH7zI48Wrg one example of not skipped sponsor segment |
@ajayyy incognito does seem to skip segment in that video |
In a non incognito tab, what happens when you click the "start segments button" on that's video after seeking to the middle. Do you get an error message? |
@ajayyy I have never used that before so I hope I am understanding: if I click on that, I get no error. I tried creating a segment and labeling it as sponsor. twice. worked once. failed once. as in, it shows as a unsubmitted sponsr both times, but only skipped the first time. I added a second segment and it didn't get skipped. |
I have not had any issue in incognito (my case private mode as I use Firefox). In videos that did fail with my other extensions running, in private mode it worked correctly. I think I only use 2 other extensions that run on Youtube pages. If I have time I may try to identify which extension may be causing the issue. |
@VileAce oh! I have ChannelBlocker, Unhook, and deArrow, maybe one of those is the issue? I shall try |
I did my final check and found that there was a compatibility issue with Enhancer for YouTube. With that extension removed the sponsored segments skipped as expected. |
I just want to mention that I have this skipping issue and don’t have the Enhancer extension, thanks On Nov 6, 2024, at 12:08 AM, VileAce ***@***.***> wrote:

For me, the problem occurs if media autoplay is blocked on the browser level. To reproduce the issue (I'm on Edge):

I also use an auto play blocker extensionOn Nov 8, 2024, at 4:51 PM, Vu Huy Nguyen ***@***.***> wrote:

To reproduce the issue (I'm on Edge):
Open a video normally. The green bar appears, and the auto skip function works
Go into Edge settings and block media autoplay (Settings > Cookies and Site permissions > Media autoplay > Block).
Go back to the same video and refresh the page. Now the video won't be autoplayed (the thumbnail is shown instead, and we have to click on the video once more for it to start playing). The green bar still appears, but the auto skip function no longer works

I can confirm that, for the last two days, blocks are not being skipped for me as well. As @VileAce mentioned, the culprit is the clash with Enhancer for YouTube plugin, for which I got an update—you guessed it—two days ago, and specific setting that is causing the issue is if you have "Disable autoplay" checked; similar to what @BlacCod reported, but for the Enhancer plugin. Interestingly, though, I also have media autoplay disabled in Firefox, but that does not seem to be an issue. |
Segments are highlighted in green correctly but never skipped
Brave browser
