Reply via e-mail to Mattermost messages / posts

I receive mails from Mattermost when my username is mentioned in a post / message and I would like to reply via e-mail.

Describe the solution you'd like
If I could just reply to the Mattermost mail and mail2most would post my e-mail reply in Mattermost in the respective thread that would cover my use case.

Describe alternatives you've considered
There is actually a plugin which did cover this specific use case (https://mattermost.com/marketplace/email-reply-plugin/) but apparently it is only an alpha version and issues are not solved anymore / there is no further development for it anymore. It does not work with the current Mattermost version anymore.
