documentation should clearly state that start/index/count/stride/map arrays must be the same size as the associated variable

You might think it is obvious, but at least one group of scientists programmers didn't think so, and were surprised when I told them that the start/count arrays must be the same size as the variable's dimensions.

They were routinely using start/count arrays of 3, for 4-D variables. I'm not even sure how or why that worked.

I checked the documentation, and we really don't make this clear.
