Would it be possible to make EOT and TTF fonts optional?

I know that this is probably hard to do due to compatibility and the like, but would it possible to have an option to remove eot and ttf fonts, maybe the woff too?

The first two add around 2,6MB to the final asset package plus another 500KB for the WOFF, which most of modern web applications do not need.

There is probably not a place for removing them completely due to maximum compatibility.
