Data Management Plan v1
We plan to release the required minimal data in supplementary materials along with publications.
While most of our development effort is toward improving the interoperability of existing data sets, a potentially significant amount of metadata stored as companion files to existing products (in an aligned format, e.g. the same HDF version) is a natural product of our technologies. In the proposed architecture, these files reside in the same system as the related Earth Science data, therefore we are collaborating with ASDC (J. Walter, LaRC) and LAADS DAAC (R. Wolfe, GSFC) to determine the best way to develop, test, and deploy STARE and its associated data and metadata products.
Our science use cases, in particular the UCSB snow mapping effort, may generate large, higher- level data products. We will work with the identified DAACs above, or identify other DAACs, to discuss and determine whether our science use case products warrant archiving. The potential exists that our science use cases might lead to operational analyses, but this is something that will develop over the course of the project and our interactions with the DAACs and the scientific community. The STARE team has experience with the DAACs mentioned above and will work closely with them on integrating our capabilities in the relevant environments. This plan will be updated as needed, with a final version submitted at project conclusion.
