However, one major point remains open, namely that it is not possible to simply add cell cycle phase information based on the fluorescence tracks displayed. While the implementation of a potentially more complex auto-detection of cell cycle phases may be beyond the browser at this stage, a manual annotation based on the fluorescence tracks displayed should be relatively straightforward. A prime example is the detection of the S/G2 transition based on the change in the variance, once PCNA foci disappear at the end of S phase. Either by simply clicking or marking the remaining track, cell cycle class information could be added and written back into the data set provided.
