The problem

The current API may have security issues, lack features, have confusing names, or be confusing to use

Ideal solution

  1. Document the current API (the public events, the exports, and the hooks) in a format that shows the name and parameters of each API function. This shouldn't be too fancy as we just want to use it to make decisions.
  2. Propose a new API (re-using existing API functions where it makes sense)
  3. Implement the new API after the proposal has been approved
