For a geojson.FeatureCollection The s1_area_per_orbitstate function takes the unary_union of all features:

openeo-gfmap/src/openeo_gfmap/utils/catalogue.py

Line 139 in 2b62896

geometry = unary_union(shapely_geometries)

However, this won't work if there's only one feature.
