Describe the bug

Clicking the "Publish in Room Directory" button in the "Aliases" dialog of the "Room Settings" seemingly leads to the room alias being deleted entirely, at least on the matrix.org home server.

To Reproduce

  1. Have a room on matrix.org that has at least one alias
  2. Open "Room Settings" > "Aliases"
  3. Click "Publish in Room Directory" button
  4. Close all settings dialogs
  5. Open "Room Settings" > "Aliases" again

What happened?

There's an error message popup that the alias doesn't point to the room, and then the alias appears to be just nuked and deleted

Expected behavior

Publishing in room directory works, and when it doesn't it won't delete the alias at least
