Compared to POP runs, MOM6 log files have a marked increase in the number of warnings regarding the CO2 solver needing additional iterations to find a root

MARBL WARNING (marbl_co2calc_mod:drtsafe): (marbl_co2calc_mod:drtsafe)

This is used for computing pH, and the solver uses the previous value as an initial guess. One hypothesis is that the vertical remapping that occurs between time steps makes the previous value a poorer initial value for the solver.
