I've got some experience with ReadtheDocs so can help out with this. Public repo will be much easier to setup, but if we're keeping this repo private for now, you might need to set up SSH authentication as mentioned at https://docs.readthedocs.io/en/stable/guides/importing-private-repositories.html, and handle the related costs of setting up a business account.
