WebSocket connection error

I'm trying to use this provider in web3modal yet it always shows this error

index.js:5199 WebSocket connection to 'wss://mainnet.infura.io/ws/v3/<INFURA_KEY>' failed: Received a broken close frame containing a reserved status code.

something is broken in the beta packages. Downgrading to the last stable version resolved this for me -> version 2.1.22
I think the beta that might work as well is the first one ^2.1.20-beta.1

@rori4 Downgrading still makes me cannot sign in using laptop. If I tried sign in using mobile browser, somehow it's working...
